History

You have to go back almost two centuries to observe the birth of one of the most important gins in the world today. It was 1830 when a Londoner named Charles Tanqueray opened his own distillery in the Bloomsbury district of the UK capital. The first steps of the distillery were not the most successful, testing ingredients and varying recipes to find the perfect gin, until in 1838 Mr. Tanqueray found an ideal blend that remains intact since that time: Tanqueray London Dry.

As in these cases, it is not the first generation that exploits the company, but the later ones, and so it was with Tanqueray. In 1868 Charles dies and the distillery passes into the hands of his son, only 20 years old, but who shows a great intuition for business. He expanded his sights by exporting to the British colonies, merging with Gordon's and transferring production to his most important and modern distilleries.

Thus, Tanqueray increased its legend by increasing its catalogue until it became what it is today, one of the most prestigious brands of gin in the world.

Logo and campaigns

A distinctive difference between Tanqueray and the rest of gin brands: green. This color is present in the vast majority of his creations, either through the tonality of the bottle, or through various stamps in special editions. In addition, another aspect that distinguishes Tanqueray from the competition is its quality seal, present in the bottle with the Tanqueray T and an intense red color.

Interesting facts

Tanqueray has never neglected his faithful followers, even when the law was not on his side. This was the case in the 1920s in the United States during the implementation of the Dry Law. In those years, in order to keep his clients from tasting the exquisite taste of gin, Tanqueray made his shipments to the islands off the coast of the United States, where the Americans approached to buy the drink.
