History

Although the first time human beings could enjoy the taste of Beefeater was in 1876, the truth is that the legend of gin par excellence begins several decades earlier, specifically in 1820. It was in that year that the Taylor family opened Chelsea Distillery, an establishment located on London's Cale Street. Fifteen years later he was born in Devon James Burrough, founder of Beefeater and a pharmacist, who traveled to Toronto, Canada, acquiring knowledge for what his life would bring him.

Already in 1863 Burrough acquires the Chelsea distillery, producing liquors, gins and punch, until in 1876 he comes up with the recipe that would change his life forever, the Beefeater gin. At the same time of its release to the market is an unprecedented success, and due to high demand is moved several times from headquarters, to the current one in Kennington, opened in 1958. In 1987 the Burrough family ceased to own the brand after more than 100 years, passing into the hands of Withbread and exalting a legend that still continues today and has come to make Beefeater one of the most prestigious gins around the world.

Interesting Facts

Throughout this journey we have praised Beefeater, admiring his unique character, but this is not something we are inventing ourselves, and we can prove it for two reasons. The first is the fact that 3 out of 4 bottles imported into the United States in 1963 were from Beefeater. And if that's not enough, here's another fact: it was the only gin selected to be served on the Queen Elizabeth II's maiden voyage to New York.

Beefeater is a great Gin brand. Its references in Gin are highly valued in the sector for their high level of manufacturing quality and their fame among the public is well deserved.
