History

Distillery and agriculture. These were, and still are, the two pillars on which the Republic of Ireland was built in the mid-20th century. The Irish were proud of their distilleries, particularly of the fame of their whiskey, which was one of the most popular in the world, and of their agriculture, particularly of the milk produced by cows fed in green and idyllic surroundings. Would there be a way to unite both passions into one? Since 1974, yes.

That was the year in which David Dand managed to launch a product on which he had been thinking for years and dedicating almost all of his time. The man known as Baileys' Godfather had had an idea in his head for many months, and to carry it out he wanted to enlist the help of a group of technical specialists, including David Gluckman, Tom Jago, Steve Wilson and Mac McPherson. All of them wanted to combine the best Irish cream with the most exquisite whisky in the country, and in the first place they joined several ingredients, among them those mentioned, and mixed them in a blender with a delicious result, but not the one desired by all.

Thus, they spent three years trying different formulas until they finally found the flavor that for over 40 years has dazzled not only the Irish, but more than 150 countries around the world. The best Irish cows, fed with a unique herb, are responsible for producing the milk on small family farms in the country, and therefore the cream used for the recipe. This has to be made within 36 hours of milk production, which is essential for everything to go according to plan. This cream, together with triple-distilled whiskey, vanilla pods, cocoa beans, and other ingredients whose name and proportion remain a secret, are responsible for giving life to the first cream liqueur in the world and the most recognized wherever it goes.

Special Editions

Baileys Strawberry & Cream Valentine's Day

Every day is a good day to express the love we feel towards our partner, but the truth is that there is no day more recognized than Valentine's Day. A box of chocolates, a bouquet of roses..., and a bottle of Baileys. That was the Irish company's bet in 2018, when it launched a special edition of its Strawberry & Cream variety with a pink-coloured cover decorated with pieces of strawberries.

Baileys Almond cream liqueur

A vegan-friendly product. Despite Baileys' pride in its cream, the Irish distillery also wanted to think about vegan consumers, and those with coeliac disease and lactose intolerance, in 2017. That is why that year it was chosen to launch Baileys Almond on the market, a product made mainly from almond and soya milk and containing neither honey nor beeswax.

Baileys Red Velvet Cream Liqueur

The Red Velvet is one of the most famous cakes in the world, and since 2019 it has also been accompanied by the name Baileys. That year, Diageo's factory launched a limited range of fresh chocolate cake, cream cheese frosting and cocoa powder on the world market. These flavours are encased in a classic Baileys bottle, but decorated with intense red accents and a cupcake on the front.

Logo and campaigns

Although each version of Baileys changes its label and image, one thing remains unchanged: the company's large letters, "embedded" in a red label with gold edges. However, if we focus on the original Baileys model, an image has accompanied it for over 40 years. It is the green pastures of Ireland, where the cows graze and feed on the best grass to give the cream liqueur a truly unique taste throughout the world.

Interesting facts

Music makes life longer, or at least happier. It is a scientifically proven fact, and if you don't ask the Baileys' milk cows, known as the Señoritas de Baileys. Their keepers, besides feeding them the best grass and housing them in the most comfortable farms, also delight them with the music they like best.

Baileys is a brand of Cream. Its references in Crema are highly valued in the sector for their high level of quality in manufacture and its fame among the public is well deserved.
