Aberfeldy

History

The history of Aberfeldy was founded by the Dewars brand in 1896 and began in 1898 on the outskirts of Aberfeldy on the banks of the River Tay.

From 1917 to 1919, during the First World War, the distillery had to close due to the demand for barley as a staple food, and during the Second World War it also had to close for some periods of time for the same reason.

In 1972 the distillery was expanded and the old stills were replaced by four new steam stills, two of them for washing and the other two for alcohol.

At the turn of the millennium, the Earl of Elgin opened a center in Aberfeldy to market products and show the public how distillation is produced and how the history of the Dewars brand has been, called "Dewars World of Whisky".

Awards

Logo and campaigns

The Aberfeldy brand logo shows its own name with a subtext that reads "The golden drink, single malt scotch whisky". All this on icons that, from left to right, show a barrel, a still, a bee, a drop and a factory.

Interesting data

Aberfeldy is the largest malt whisky component owned by the Dewar's Blended Whisky group.

It is also located in the town of Aberfeldy and is the only distillery built by the Dewar family, partly because John Dewar was born and lived very close to this area, and was a kind of homecoming.
