Why buy Whisky Aberfeldy 16 Years

Aberfeldy draws its brewing water from the Pitilie Brook and then distils it in a copper pot still to produce a classic fruity Highland whisky. This location was also chosen because of the railway line linking it to Perth.

This whisky has been aged in handmade oak casks for 16 years, and enriched in Oloroso sherry casks for its fruity nature and the roundness it brings to the whisky.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

At first sight it has a clear bright amber colour.

On the nose we notice an aroma reminiscent of cinnamon cake, sultanas and apple slices.

Its flavour is clearly of stewed apple, followed by hints of lemon and orange oils. The finish is very spicy and subtly leaves an aftertaste of soft orchard fruits.

To enjoy this fantastic whisky, we recommend drinking it neat or with ice to enjoy its many nuances.

A little bit of history about Aberfeldy 16 Years...

Aberfeldy Distillery was founded in 1896 and opened two years later on the banks of the River Tay on the eastern outskirts of Aberfeldy.

In 1972 the distillery was extended and its old stills were replaced by four new steam heated stills.

At the turn of the century, Dewar's World of Whisky was opened at Aberfeldy Distillery, a centre to market the whisky and show the public the distilling process and history of Dewar's, of which Aberfeldy is the largest single malt whisky component.
