Nikka, the Japanese distillery, stands as a beacon of world whisky thanks to the vision of Masataka Taketsuru, the "father of Japanese whisky." After absorbing Scottish techniques during his studies in Scotland, Taketsuru returned to Japan in 1920 and established the Nikka distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaido, in 1934. The opening of the Miyagikyo distillery in 1969, honoring the diversity of the Japanese landscape, marked a milestone.
