Why buy Sweet | Fortified Wine Emilin Moscatel Lustau

Lustau Moscatel Emilín is a wine made from Muscat grapes from the vineyards of Las Cruces in Chipiona. After its elaboration, this wine has been aged for 8 years in the cellars of Jerez de la Frontera, until it reaches an alcoholic content of 17%.

The name of this wine is due to the eldest son of Emilio Lustau.

Two of the prizes this wine has won are: Gold Medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2019 and 96/100 points at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2019.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

At first glance you can see a very dark mahogany-colored wine with a golden rim in the glass.

The aromas it gives off are clearly floral and citrus.

In the mouth we can talk about a taste of spicy raisins, with a very pleasant sweetness and acidity. It is a full and very long drink on the palate.

Pairing. How to taste it

The ideal pairing for this wine should be at an average temperature of between 10°C and 12°C, accompanied by a dessert such as puff pastry, pasta or fruit-based desserts.

A little bit of history about Lustau Moscatel Emilin...

The winery to which Lustau Moscatel Emilín belongs was founded in 1896 by Don José Ruiz-Berdejo. At the beginning, Don José cultivated the vines in his own estate Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, and in the house of the estate he aged the wines that he later exported.

It was in 1931 when he moved to Jerez de la Frontera with his daughter María Ruiz-Berdejo Alberti after the latter acquired a winery in Callejón de Asta. Later, in the 1940's, María's husband, Don Emilio Lustau Ortega, moved the winery to the old town of Jerez de la Frontera, to some buildings where he slowly expanded his business.

From the 80s onwards and under the direction of Rafael Balao, the company became one of the most innovative in Jerez de la Frontera, among other things because it introduced a new elegant and exclusive bottle that distinguished Lustau from the rest of the wineries in the town.
