History
Staropramen is a brewing company that has become the second largest brewer in the Czech Republic. Its history began in 1869 with the construction of the brewery premises, but it was not until 1871 that the first beer was brewed.
During the period of wars and the triumph of communism, the company experienced very difficult times that almost led to its demise, as did many other major brands of the time. But thanks to the impetus and desire to continue conquering the market, Staropramen changed its destiny and managed to overcome it to become the number one Czechoslovak brewery, along with Pilsner Urquell and Gambrinus.
Today, Staropramen is the second largest and most important brewery in the Czech Republic and enjoys great popularity as it takes a large share of the domestic beer market and is present in almost every bar in Prague.
