Why buy Red Wine Luis Cañas Carbonic maceration

If you like wine and want to try something different, we recommend Luis Cañas Carbonic maceration. A blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Viura, and made using the traditional carbonic maceration method, gives it a different character that not all wines can boast.

When you drink a glass of this Luis Cañas Carbonic maceration, you realise that it is a different wine. It has the Rioja Designation of Origin, and as its name suggests, it undergoes a sophisticated and traditional process in which once the grapes have been selected, they are placed whole in the tank.

This tank contains very little oxygen, just under 1%. The rest is CO2 from the grapes that are crushed at the bottom.

This process lasts 7 days and the next step is to press the grapes and ferment the wine in the traditional way. Thanks to this process, the result is a very aromatic and fresh product, such as Luis Cañas Carbonic maceration.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

When you have a glass of Luis Cañas Carbonic maceration in front of you, its bright cherry red colour stands out.

On the nose it has notes of red fruits, with hints of liquorice and morello cherries.

On the palate it is a balanced wine with character and very fruity, with a persistent aftertaste reminiscent of cherries.

Pairing. How to taste it

Luis Cañas Carbonic maceration is perfect to drink calmly, after a long and busy day, listening to music or watching your favourite TV programme, while eating cured cheese, some meat or Iberian cold meats. An infallible plan.

A little bit of history about Luis Cañas...

Luis Cañas was born in 1928 and dedicated part of his life to selling young wine from his vineyards to the big merchants of the Alhóndiga in Bilbao. It was not until 1970 that the first bottled wine from the winery, located in the Rioja Alavesa, was launched on the market.

A generation of wine experts passed on, and in 1994, the founder's son, Juan Luis Cañas, took over the reins of the company. He arrived with new ideas, but without losing his father's perfectionism and good work, which led the winery to success.

In 1994 a new, more modern and improved winery was inaugurated, which allowed them to move forward and become internationally recognised.

It's in the Top 110 of economic and cheap products of Red Wine and in the Top 2090 of our best seller products.
