The history of 400 Conejos dates back to an ancient religious tradition in Mesoamerica, where it was established that only priests had the privilege of establishing a connection with the gods. This connection was achieved through the ceremonial consumption of beverages made from agave. These sacred drinks were exclusively reserved for religious rituals and those of the spiritual elite. The gods presiding over these beverages were collectively known as centzon-totchtin, which in the Nahuatl language means "400 rabbits". The number 400 in this context symbolized abundance and a power that transcended the boundaries of what could be quantified. It is said that the spirit of the 400 rabbits endures to this day, infusing each bottle of our mezcal with its timeless and mystical essence.
