Why buy Whisky Dewar's Double Double 27 years

Also known as Quadruple because of its four unique ageing stages process that culminate in a final ageing in Palo Cortado sherry casks, making this Whisky something totally distinctive.

Dewar's double double 27 years

These 4 stages that give this Whisky its special identity are:

  1. Ageing of the single grains and single malts in separate oak casks.
  2. Ageing of the blended grains and blended malts (with the best selection from the previous stage), in separate oak casks.
  3. Blending of the malt blend and the mash and a further ageing process of blending the two in the same cask.
  4. Final ageing in Palo Cortado casks.

This whole process creates a Whisky with a unique floral flavour and smoothness.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Bottle with a sober design, but still special with its 4 sides, diamond shape and a transparent that allows us to see inside with total clarity: a wonderful light golden honey-coloured whisky.
Our nose will be rewarded by intoxicating aromatic and floral notes. On the palate, delicious honeyed fruit flavours and a subtle hint of spice will break through, finishing with its characteristic smooth and delicate texture.

Pairing. How to taste it

From Yo Pongo el Hielo we recommend drinking it "Solo" or "On The Rocks", to enjoy it in all its splendour, or with a few drops of water to release all its nuances.

A little bit of history about Dewar's Double Double 27 years...

John Dewar & Sons Ltd was founded in 1846 by John Dewar in Perth, central Scotland, with his sons John Alexander Dewar and Tommy Dewar. It began as a small shop specialising in wines and spirits. As the business grew he began to specialise in blending whisky, the fruit of John's blending was so successful that he decided to have it named after him as a hallmark of quality. Today it has become a blended scotch whisky recognised and celebrated around the world.
The symbol that represents the brand is the "Celtic knot of truth", a symbol of strength and longevity, which is designed from the three letters "D" that represent its founders: John, Tommy and John Alexander Dewar.
This very special "Double Double" line was born in 2019, when its Master Blender, Stephanie Macleod, introduced a new range of blended Scotch whiskies with a totally unique four-stage ageing process for exceptional smoothness. The fact that she has been voted Master Blender of the Year all three times (2019,2020 and 2021) following this launch speaks for itself.

Dewar's double double varieties

At Dewar's, they believe that to do things right and get the best results, you have to work twice as hard. If you don't, the job is half done. So they asked themselves at every turn how they could work twice as hard to improve a range that already had double ageing for extra smoothness. The answer was obvious: double the bet!

This line was born inspired by the process created in 1901 by Dewar's first master blender, A.J. Cameron.

Not to be flattering, but this series has been winning gold medals all over the world since it was introduced.

Specifically, this Double Double 27 Year Old was voted best in class and received a double gold medal at the Worlds Spirits Competition 2021.
