Why buy Rum Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 years
Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 years is an ultra-premium rum made using Solera methods, an ageing system used for sherry wines, brandies and other exclusive distillates. The result is an exquisite, sophisticated and richly nuanced rum, considered the cognac of rums.
From the Dominican Republic comes Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 Años, a rum that is a must-have at home. Ideal for enjoying a glass in the evening with your friends, family or as a couple. Enjoy it!
Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste
Matusalem Gran Reserva Rum has a copper colour with orange highlights. When served, it gives off an aroma with very varied notes between honey and vanilla, hazelnuts and other nuts; combined with sugar caramel and toffee, which give way to fruitier notes fused with hints of wood, cocoa butter or white chocolate. On the palate, a smooth and creamy texture is perceived with notes of cream with burnt sugar and sensations of liquorice, juanola pastilles, balsamic and woody notes together with hints of tobacco that give way to a medium-long finish that allows to enjoy the glass smoothly and unhurriedly.
Pairing. How to taste it
High quality aged rums such as Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 Años are made to be enjoyed on their own, like a whisky or brandy. Therefore, we recommend serving it on its own or with very cold water or a couple of ice cubes.
A little bit of history about Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 years Boxed Bottle...
Ron Matusalem prides itself on being a Cuban-style rum with a history dating back to 1872, when two brothers, Benjamin and Eduardo Camp, along with a partner, Evaristo Alvarez opened a distillery in Santiago de Cuba. According to the Matusalem website, the rum they were producing began to gain recognition in the first quarter of the 20th century. The distillery apparently operated until the 1960s when, due to the Cuban Revolution, it was exiled and the rum disappeared from the landscape.
The brand was resurrected by Claudio Álvarez Salazar, the great-grandson of Evaristo Álvarez. Of course, production in Cuba was not possible due to the political situation. So it had to be produced and bottled in the Dominican Republic.
