Why buy Discontinued Whiskey Glenfarclas 21 Years

Originally from Scotland, this single malt should be your first choice if you are an admirer of tradition and purity.

It comes from the Glenfarclas distillery, located at the foot of the Ben Rinnes hill, which covers an area of 20 km². For the preparation of the malted barley they use Swiss mills made by Bühler. For the fermentation, they use 12 stainless steel washbacks, in which the wart ferments for 65 hours and what results goes to the stills of the distillery. Aged in the best original Sherry and Bourbon barrels for a period of 21 years and made with the purest water. This whisky is the favourite of George Grant, the owner of the distillery.

This single malt has received numerous awards: China Whisky Awards 2013, 95 Platimun/Ultimate Spirits Challange 2012, 93/ Ultimate Spirits Challange 2013, 95 Recomemndation/ IWSC 2014 Silver/ Best Whisky at Oslo Fair 2015, over 12 years.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Its colour is amber, quite dark, its aroma is intense and with different notes such as tropical fruit, nutmeg, almonds. Once on our palate, it is tasty and full-bodied, with fruit, smoky and spicy flavours. It has a long finish with notes of chocolate.

Pairing. How to taste it

It is a perfect whisky to drink as an aperitif or even as a digestive. It also goes perfectly with a plate of ham or smoked salmon

A Little History of Glenfarclas

Glenfarclas comes from Gaelic and means "the valley of green pastures". At the foot of the Ben Rinnes Mountain is located this Scottish distillery which is one of the oldest in the country. It was initially founded in 1836, but after the death of its owner the Grant family decided to buy it a few years later, in 1865. Today, the sixth generation of the family is in charge of running it.

For the production of all their single malts they need three key ingredients, pure spring water, barley produced in the Moray area, and yeast. After the distillation process, they are placed in a selection of the best Sherry barrels from Huelva. This method of ageing is quite rare as it is very expensive. Glenfarclas has a full range of malt whiskies, starting at 8 years old and ending at 40, and although it has quite a few varieties to offer, they themselves recognise that the best-selling 12 year old version is the one.

It's in the Top 40 of economic and cheap products of Discontinued Whiskey and in the Top 1360 of our best seller products.
