The Denominación de Origen (DO) Rueda is a wine region located in the north of Spain, in the province of Valladolid, and also extends to the provinces of Segovia and Ávila. The Rueda DO is known for producing high quality white wines made mainly from the Verdejo grape variety, although other varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Viura and Palomino Fino are also used.
The climate of the region is continental, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. The soils of the Rueda DO are mainly gravel, clay and sand, which gives the wines a mineral character and a refreshing acidity.
