Why buy White Wine Protos Verdejo

A 100% Verdejo wine made from vineyards over fifteen years old on dry, gravelly soils, at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level, with a yield of 7,500 kilograms per hectare planted.

The winemaking process involves the following steps: mechanised night-time harvesting, maceration for 4 to 5 hours at a temperature of 10°C, pressing in an inert atmosphere and static racking at a similar temperature, fermentation at a temperature of 13.5°C and, finally, ageing for approximately 3 months.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

At first sight we can appreciate a straw yellow colour with greenish hues, clean and bright.

The aroma is of medium intensity, with fresh scents such as pineapple and citrus aromas, so typical of the Verdejo variety.

On the palate it is a dry wine with a body and structure resulting from ageing on fine lees. Slightly bitter taste and a long persistence that leaves a memory of the wine in the mouth.

Food pairing. How to taste it

This wine should be served at a temperature of between 6°C and 7°C, and accompanied by any fish or vegetable dish.

History of the product

In 1927, eleven winegrowers set up a cooperative with the sole purpose of producing wine. During the 1930s it began to be internationally recognised thanks to the prizes it was winning.

After several decades of history, in the 1980s it changed its original name from Bodegas Ribera del Duero to Bodegas Protos.

In the most recent period of the winery's history, it became part of the Rueda Designation of Origin in 2006, and was chosen as the first Spanish winery with the "mark of excellence" certificate by Wine & Spirits magazine in 2013.
