Woodford Distillery is located eight miles away in Kentucky and was originally founded in 1812. Throughout its history it has played an important role in the production of bourbon and rye.

One of Woodford's mainstays is the wood used for the maturation of its whiskeys. These include northern oak, Appalachian oak and Ozark oak whose growing conditions are very different and therefore play an important role in providing a unique flavour and aroma.

This edition is part of the 2016 Kentucky Derby sponsorship, but was launched in 2021.
