Why buy Whisky Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Scottish Barley Boxed

Are you a fan of smoked whisky?, don't you know what this means and want to try something new?

If the answer to either of these two questions is yes, this heavily peated whisky from the island of Islay is the perfect choice for you.

Two things make this drink stand out and make it distinctive: peat and the Islay island designation of origin.

The first refers to the fuel through which the malt is heated in this case and which plays an important role in its smoky flavour.

The second guarantees the provenance of both the malt and the spring water used to make this product, as it is a place with a lot of recognition in whisky making and other brands use it in vain to capitalise on its good name.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Colour: an intense and attractive colour reminiscent of a golden lily. Very pure and authentic as no artificial colouring is added.

Smell: an assertive start introduces us to the smoky smell of peat that will accompany us throughout this journey, while evoking the Atlantic squalls characteristic of the region. Our senses are quickly flooded with notes of iodine, seashells, oak staves, black pepper, paprika and leather tobacco.

A second wave will arrive bringing vanilla, figs and soft dates, marinated pear, freshly ground malt, dark caramel and nuts.

On the palate: sweet, smooth and warm flavours will characterise the wave that will crash harmoniously against the palate. Despite this softness, the waves will leave complex, deep and characterful flavours; marked by the contrast between the smoky sweetness of the barley and the marine freshness, provided by the distillation, which is reinforced by the richness of the vanilla and caramel. Meanwhile the citrus touch and oak flavour give strength to this complexity.

The finish is long, moving and awakens a warm feeling within us.

Pairing. How to taste it

The characteristic smoky flavour of this Whisky makes it very interesting to pair with different foods. From Yo Pongo El Hielo we recommend that you serve it neat or with a few ice cubes and pair it with:

-Blue cheese: these types of cheese have a very intense flavour. Go for the legendary Roquefort or something milder like Gorgonzola.

-Dark chocolate: a good chocolate that mixes sweetness with an intense and pure cocoa flavour (between 60 and 80 percent) will definitely make you enjoy this experience.

-Oysters: if you like this luxurious mollusc, the marine and citrus touch of Port Charlotte goes perfectly with it.

A little bit of history about Port Charlotte Scottish Barley

Port Charlotte is the name of the town close to the place where the drink is made, Bruichladdich. Both are on the island of Islay, where some of the world's finest whiskies are made.
The fact that you can easily read these three names on the bottle is no coincidence, as for the makers, provenance is central to the whole process and the way they influence the local community is really important to them.
Tasting this product will undoubtedly transport you to the rainy climate, green meadows and cliffs of the area.
