Why buy Whisky Highland Park Valknut

Highland Park Valknut is the second release in the Viking Legend series, which celebrates the rich Nordic ancestry in Orkney and continues the recipe of the whiskies made at the Highland Park distillery. The spirit used features a small portion of Tartan barley which is grown in Orkney and was matured preferably in American oak casks seasoned with sherry. It is slightly smokier than standard Highland Park whisky, so if you like a peaty delight, this will be an excellent choice not to be missed.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

The first thing that strikes the eye is its beautiful copper colour.

When poured, it gives off aromas of peat smoke with notes of fresh vanilla, thyme honey and sandalwood.

Finally, it allows us to enjoy a delicious taste of roasted barley and fennel seeds with a hint of cinnamon and a finish of orange peel with a touch of gingerbread, nutmeg and barbecue charcoal.

A little bit of history about Highland Park Valknut...

Highland Park is the world's most northerly malt Scotch whisky distillery, located in Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland. Highland Park is regarded by whisky connoisseurs as one of the finest malt whiskies in the world. It has been named "The World's Best Liquor" three times by F. Paul Pacult, America's foremost expert on distilled spirits.

The distillery has also performed well in international spirit ranking competitions. Its 25-year-old whisky was the first spirit to receive a perfect score of 100 points in the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. In 2018, two of its special distillery releases, The Light and The Dark, each received a double gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In 2019 and for the fourth consecutive year, Highland Park took home the Ultimate Spirits Challenge's top honour, the President's Trophy for Best of Distillery Category.
