Why buy Red Wine Malleolus

The emergence of this wine means that Bodegas Emilio Moro's wines are beginning to be known for their own identity.

Its name comes from Latin and means "hawthorn", which is the name given to the vineyards in Pesquera de Duero. Its cultivation from old majuelo grapes makes this wine a turning point in the history of the winery.

Malleolus is made from 100% fine red grapes, and has been in the process of maceration with the skins for approximately 18 days. As for the malolactic fermentation, it is carried out in stainless steel tanks, and then it is aged in French oak barrels until it is bottled.

This wine is one of the most awarded at international level, proof of this is, for example, the prize obtained in 2015 when it was included in the "Top 100 Wines" list of the "Wine Enthusiast" magazine.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

The colour of this wine, which can be seen with the naked eye, is a very intense cherry red, a very typical colour in the 2017 vintage due to the low production.

Its aroma is dense and ripe, and it has a lot of intensity and a great characteristic personality.

As for the taste, we can say that it is very balanced between maturity and freshness, and presents great complexity due to its months of aging in large capacity barrels.

Pairing. How to taste it

This fantastic wine is perfect for pairing with red meats, spicy stews, big game and very cured cheeses.

A little bit of history about Malleolus...

Three generations have made up the history of Bodega Emilio Moro to this day, three generations of a family that has always known the history and process of wine very well, but it was not until 1987 that it began to market it.

Their winery is made up of 200 hectares strategically located in Pesquera del Duero, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. One of the great characteristics is that all its vineyards are grafted with hundred-year-old spikes in order to preserve their original clone.

A historical milestone occurred in 1998 at Bodega Emilio Moro, and it was none other than to abolish the cataloguing of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva, and all its wines go on, from that moment on, to have a unique name, personality and identity.

It's in the Top 80 of economic and cheap products of Red Wine and in the Top 1580 of our best seller products.
