Why buy Red Wine Flor de Pingus

The legend of Pingus wines does not stop growing to give us the best jewels of Spanish wine. Flor de Pingus, considered the little brother of the mythical Pingus, comes to delight us with its maximum quality in a more accessible way.

Flor de Pingus, is the new elaboration of Bodega Dominio de Pingus, where its creator Peter Sisseck continues with his legacy, elaborating a spectacular red wine to make us see the brilliant essence of his first wine Pingus, which is more inaccessible.

Made with 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes, in a small winery in La Horra, one of the best areas of the D.O Ribera del Duero, where all the vineyards are considered organic between 20 and 50 years old.

The grapes are harvested by hand, where they undergo a malolactic fermentation process with natural yeasts. After that, the wine is aged for 18 months in new and used French oak barrels.

This is how Flor de Pingus is born, a harmonious, intense, fresh and elegant red wine that has already caused a great stir among the best wine tasters, becoming one of the great wines of Ribera del Duero and one of the most sought-after.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Pouring a glass of this Flor de Pingus, you will appreciate a wonderful and striking cherry colour with violet tones.

On the nose, it has an intense fragrance, where very ripe red and black fruits stand out together with floral notes, where it continues with the aroma of toast, balsams, eucalyptus, some small touch of coffee or cocoa, derived from the ageing process.

On the palate, Flor de Pingus shows all its brilliant singularity, giving a sweet and voluminous entrance. It is a smooth wine on the palate, where we find the taste of blackberries, blueberries, notes of oak and mocha. With very fine tannins and a long finish that leaves us with a flavour, freshness and balance within the reach of very few wines.

Pairing. How to taste it

We recommend serving it at a temperature between 16-17° to enjoy all the flavour, aromas and characteristics of this premium wine, one of the most sought-after on the market.

Flor de Pingus is the perfect red wine to accompany big game meat dishes, pork stews, red meat and of course Iberian ham. It is also ideal for starters and cheeses.

A little bit of history about Flor de Pingus...

Peter Sisseck, Pingus is the nickname given to him by his friends, settled in the Hacienda Monasterio, located in the Ribera del Duero more than 20 years ago. His creative and visionary skills led him to start his own project in the fine red grape sector, where he acquired five hectares of vineyards more than 60 years old in the area of Pesquera and Roa. The purchase of French oak barrels with his name on them changed the history of Spanish wine and continues his legend to this day.

The starting point of Pingus's unbridled ascent began when most of the bottles of its debut 1995 vintage (98 Parker points) that were on their way to the American market sank in the ship that was transporting them.

From that moment on, the wine's exclusivity skyrocketed to spectacular heights, making it the most expensive wine in Spain. Its 2004 vintage received 100 points awarded by Robert Parker, the highest score a wine can have. The release of two other more affordable wine varieties, such as Psi and Flor de Pingus (94 Parker points), make Pingus a master of excellence in the winemaking sector, considered the little great treasure of Ribera del Duero.
