Why buy Red Wine Ramon Bilbao Reserva Original 43
An example of experience and good taste, this wine will be the perfect companion to enjoy your meat dishes or accompanying a good cheese tapa.
We moved to Etxebarri, a village in 1876, but now part of the capital of Vizacaya, where Ramón Bilbao Murga was born. Ramon belonged to a humble family, in those years, most of the population was dedicated to the sector of the fishing. As he grew up, he became interested and curious about the world of wine.
In 1895, Ramón started to work in a cafeteria in order to make money and later on he started his own business. Helped and advised by an uncle of his who was involved in the grain and wine trade, he decides to move to Anguciana, a small village. But bad luck struck and before Ramon could settle down, his uncle died, causing him to marry his aunt so that later his daughter could be born.
The beginnings were not exactly a path of roses, phylloxera took over all the vineyards and killed them. Despite the terrible plague, he manages to continue his journey and takes his warehouse to Haro a few years later. There he managed to settle down and start a family, opened a grain store and bought land in Casalarreina where he began to plant vineyards. The 1920s were magnificent years for him, and in 1924 he acquired a winery in Cuevas de Haro street. Five years later Ramón died leaving all his legacy to his son Enrique Bilbao.
Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste
This magnificent Tempranillo, with an intense and brilliant burgundy red color, presents a floral aroma of dried fruits and liquorice. In the mouth we find an intense wine that wraps us with a delicate memory of plums and balsamic.
Pairing. How to taste it
To taste it in the best way, its optimal temperature would be about 18°C, 20°C, so we would appreciate all its nuances. As for the accompaniment, we can say that it is a wine easily combined with different types of food, such as beef, soft cheeses or even international dishes.
Very good vintage
Ramón Bilbao's harvest has been qualified as very good by the Council of the D.O. Ca Rioja. In this particular vintage there was a predominance of higher temperatures from the month of May and some rain at the end of September.
