The Duvel Tripel Hop Citra is a Belgian Strong Pale Ale, a beer originating from Belgium with a fruity taste and a touch of bitterness. With 9.5% alcohol and 68 kcal per 100ml.

Spring in the Duvel brewery has been synonymous, since 2007, the birth of a new Duvel Tripel Hop, until in 2013 they decide to settle the Duvel Tripel Hop Citra, as the clear winner of a vote of about 5,000 fans who tried it.

For this variety, the master brewers create the Tripel Hop Citra by adding a third variety of hops, hence the name "Tripel Hop" ("tripel hop" in Dutch), and a special dry-hopping process, by which dry hops are added to the beer at its stage of maturity and after the main fermentation, to give it a much more intense aroma.

At Duvel they are still fascinated by how only with the basic ingredients such a special, broad and varied beer can be made, because each variety of hops contains its own characteristics, taste and the characteristic final aroma of the beer.

The new hops used in the elaboration of this Tripel Hop offer a subtle and refined grapefruit and tropical fruit flavor with a distinctive hop character. It has a caloric amount of 68 kcal per 100 ml.

This variety of beer is a luxurious combination of fresh and appetizing, with some sausage or even to accompany meat, vegetables and fish such as tuna or mussels.

A little bit of history about Duvel Tripel Hop Citra...

Duvel's history begins in 1871 with the foundation of the Moortgat brewery farm by Jan-Léonard Moortgat and his wife, becoming, at the end of the century, one of the fully operational breweries in Belgium.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the couple's sons, Albert and Victor, joined the family business, and it was they who got the perfect recipe to commemorate the end of the First World War, with a beer they called "Victory Ale". During a tasting, an inhabitant surprised by the aromas exclaims "he is a real devil" (a "duvel"), thanks to which, from 1923 the beer was commercialized with this name.

Since the year 2000, the fourth generation of the family is present in the company, but before that, the third generation, considered giving Duvel a distinctive touch, and they thought that a unique beer needed a unique glass, that's why they created the first beer glass with the shape of a tulip.

The Duvel Tripel Hop Citra has been awarded a medal at the Brusseles Beer Challenge, as well as a prize at the Zythos Beer Festival in Leuven, both international competitions held in Belgium.
