A little bit of history about Orujo Cream Martín Berasategui...

In its beginnings,  Orujo Cream was produced and elaborated in a family way, that is to say, for own consumption; especially, in the Valley of Liébana, back in the 14th century.

But as time went by, it became popular in different areas of Spain, especially in the north, due to the ease with which alchemists from different convents and religious orders passed on their knowledge of the art of distillation along the Way of St. James.

And so it was that the recipe for distilling the pomace from wine-making and the way to carry out this process in alembic stills or stills, the latter being a slower and more traditional way of doing it, came into different hands.
