The name Gulden Draak, which translates as "the golden dragon", comes from a legend that goes back several centuries. This legend tells of the journey on the bow of a Gulden Draak ship from Scandinavia to the bell tower of Ghent.

This dragon would adorn the prow of Norwegian King Sigurd Magnusson's crusading ship in the early 12th century as a symbol of power and independence.

That is why this brewery takes this name, as an identifying value of being a beer as powerful as the golden dragon, in addition, its igneous colour is unrivalled in taste and aroma.
