Why buy Botanical | Spice Angostura Cocoa Bitters

Angostura, famous worldwide for its history in creating aromatic and orange bitters, has expanded its collection to include Angostura Cocoa Bitters.

This Angostura cocoa adds diversity to the range with an intriguing combination of flavours and natural ingredients.

Only the best cocoa in the world from Trinidad and Tobago is used in its production, which has resulted in a new, decadent and satisfying taste.

The company decides the origin of the cocoa from Trinidad and Tobago because it is one of the few countries that has maintained the designation as a producer of fine or 100% flavored cocoa for decades.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

With a packaging presentation similar to the original brand, Angostura Cocoa Bitters has top notes of rich floral bitterness with nuts, and a bold infusion of aromatic botanicals.

Pairing. How to taste it

It is ideal for combining its flavor in both professional and home use applications in sweet and savory.

In addition, it combines very well with sweet vermouth, aged liquors such as whiskey, rum, cognac or tequila, cocktails such as the Expresso Martini, or even to give a luxurious twist to a main dish.

A little bit of history about Angostura Cocoa Bitters...

The history of the Angostura brand began in 1824, when its founder, Dr. Johann Siegert who was born in Germany but lived in Angostura, Venezuela, where he perfected the production of aromatic bitters for medicinal purposes.

In the 1870's, Dr. Johann Siegert's three sons traveled to Port-au-Prince in Trinidad and Tobago, where they settled down and started the production of these aromatic bitters as an ingredient for cocktails and food.

In 1906 the labels stopped showing the word "cure" and lower limits of alcohol were established and although the bitter business took a lethal hit, Angostura aromatic bitters remained strong as their use had changed.

From 1955 to the present day, the company was named the only one with the credentials to present itself as a manufacturer of Angostura aromatic bitters to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Angostura orange bitters were launched all over the world and are still considered one of the best orange bitters on the market today and are the soul of an exceptional dry martini. In 2018, Angostura orange bitters receive several awards, among them its publication in the Bar 2018 Annual Report of the prestigious Drinks International magazine.

After conducting various tests and a long process of research over the years, the Angostura brand team has managed to come up with the perfect recipe, balancing the Trinitarian cocoa with the mixture of macerated herbs and spices.

This team of brand experts has explored the limits of flavor to come up with a formula inspired by the history and local heritage of Trinidad and Tobago.
