A little history about ...
The history of Leffe has its origins in the abbey of the Premonstratensian canons of Notre-Dame de Leffe.
They started brewing beer in 1240, so that guests and travellers could quench their thirst with a healthy and refreshing drink.
At that time, epidemics made drinking water unsafe, so the solution they devised was to brew beer, as the brewing process killed microbes by the boiling temperature.
