Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste
Deep dark golden colour. It comes packaged in a striking, yet elegant, passion red box.
The nose is full of complex fruity aromas and sherried malt.
On the palate we notice sherry, cognac, brandy, fruit, nuts and marzipan. It's like taking a bite of a wonderful Christmas cake, while maintaining the character of a quality Whisky. The finish is really long and pleasant leaving an exquisite aftertaste of dark chocolate at the back of the mouth.
Pairing. How to taste it
Yo Pongo El Hielo recommends drinking it neat, "on the rocks" or, at most, with a few drops of water. This way, you will be able to appreciate all its quality at its best.
A little bit of history about Glenfarclas 30 Years boxed...
Glenfarclas is Gaelic for "the valley of green pastures". At the foot of the Ben Rinnes mountain is located this Scottish distillery which is one of the oldest in the country. It was originally founded in 1836, but after the death of its owner the Grant family decided to buy it a few years later, in 1865. Today it is run by the sixth generation of the family.
For the production of all their single malt they need three key ingredients, pure spring water, barley produced in the Moray area, and yeast. After the distillation process, they are placed in a selection of the finest sherry casks from Huelva. This mode of ageing is quite rare to see, as it is very expensive. Glenfarclas has a full range of malt whiskies, starting at 8 years and ending at 40 years, offering a wide range that makes it one of the most remarkable Scottish distilleries.
It's in the Top 130 of economic and cheap products of Discontinued Whiskey and in the Top 3000 of our best seller products.
