Tun. 1509 refers to the large cask where the distillery's best selection is paired and aged for several months to give its unique taste to the final bottled product. Previously, the paired selections had been individually matured in 23 different casks, 13 traditional American oak casks and 10 European oak sherry butts for several years.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Appearance: honeyed dark amber colour.

Nose: Rich and malty, sweet vanilla, layers of honeycomb and citrus.

Palate: Luscious notes of malt and concentrated honey gradually turn into deeper, richer oak, with some dried fruits and a spicy hint of cinnamon and ginger, finishing luxuriously with delicate spice and oak flavours.

Pairing. How to taste it

In this case, given the special exclusivity and excellence of this product, there is no other way to taste it than on its own, "On The Rocks" or at most with a few drops of water. In order to savour it in all its fullness without any alteration.

The Balvenie is a distillery located in the historic Banffshire region of Scotland. More specifically, it is located in Dufftown, and the most important tourist attraction in the town is Balvenie Castle, after which the distillery is named.

Its master distiller is David C. Stewart and has been since 1974, no less. With this Tun 1509 series, he aims to offer us something truly special, reaching the pinnacle of his long career of experience and wisdom.
