In 1879, Lars Olsson Smith introduced the continuous distillation, a process with which Bränvin Absolut Rent (Absolute Pure Vodka) was distil. Rather than distilling vodka three or four times as usual, this vodka whas distilled an infinite number of times. One hundred years later, he again re-launched it as ABSOLUT. And since then, ABSOLUT is produced in Åhus, the hometown of LO Smith. And also where the wheat that produced this vodka is harvested. The main ingredients in ABSOLUT VODKA are water and winter wheat. The water comes from a deep well of Åhus, protected from impurities. This winter wheat differs from other crops: it is sown in autumn and harvested the next one. Meanwhile it grows under the Swedish snow developing its hard grain. Furthermore, the use of fertilizers is minimized.
