Why buy Cognac and Brandy Discontinued Esplendido

Splendid is the drink you've been waiting for, its lightness makes it the perfect companion for your best moments.

Splendid 25 is the new version of the brand's best spirit, but with a lower alcohol content, which means it is ideal to accompany your after-dinner meals. It is obtained through the selection of wine holandas and aged under the traditional system of Criaderas and Solera in American oak barrels for a period of nine months.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

It has a bright amber colour and a clean, penetrating aroma. In the mouth it is smooth and velvety with a finish of bitter notes of wood.

Pairing. How to taste it

The optimum consumption temperature is between 10-15°C, the best time to taste it is after meals as a digestive, in glasses or as a shot. Ideal for desserts and nuts.

A little history about the brand

William Garvey, an Irish aristocrat from County Waterford, lands in Spain by chance, looking for some sheep for his flock in Ireland. When he was sailing from the Bay of Cadiz, his ship ran aground due to a big storm, he saved his life thanks to a sailor from Cadiz who was in the area, who later became his father-in-law.

The city conquered William, to such an extent that he stayed to live and set up his business in a sector that he was completely unaware of, but in which he managed to achieve great success. At first, he bought small quantities and sent them to England and Ireland. Although his business grew slowly, William wanted to build the biggest winery in the city. Under the faith he had in the patron saint of Ireland, "Saint Patrick", he decides that if he ever manages to fulfil his dream, he will take the patron saint's name. His second objective was to invest in the wines we know as "Fino" de Jerez and to export large quantities.

Nowadays, Bodegas Garvey, has a more than deserved place representing Sherry Wines. In the Pago Cerro de Santiago we can find the Cerro Viejo vineyards, which are among the most famous ones, nowadays they are one of the biggest points of production and ageing of the sherry wine. With an albariza, white and simple to work land, it is the most suitable for the vineyards. When the grapes are already soft and sweet, in September, they are picked and moved to the presses to obtain the must. Between the months of September and December a second fermentation takes place, the first one converts the sugar into alcohol and the second one starts to give the characteristics of a young wine. Then they are classified depending on whether they are going to be aged with "velo de flor" or without it.
