One of the best aniseed-flavoured spirits is Ricard Pastis Marseille.
In its name, 'pastis' means mixture, and refers to the mixture of aniseed, sugar, fennel, liquorice roots, herbs, etc. used in its preparation.
It is a typical drink from the south of France, made by distilling alcohol that has been macerated in herbs, including aniseed.
Light in colour.
On the nose it has a sweet, aniseed and spicy aroma.
Its flavour is equally sweet, somewhat spicy and aniseed-flavoured.
It is best enjoyed chilled. And under no circumstances should it be mixed with ice, as it creates a layer of oil on the surface.
Ricard was created by Paul Ricard in 1932, when he was only 23 years old and already an entrepreneur.
The drink was created under the sign of the sun in Marseille, where Paul Ricard knew how to give it a personal touch with the intention of distinguishing it from any other drink.
