Why buy Discontinued Whiskey The Balvenie Triple Cask 16 Years
The Balvenie Triple Cask 16 year old whisky is one of those that make up the Balvenie Triple Cask range along with The Balvenie Triple Cask 12 year old and The Balvenie Triple Cask 25 year old, as well as having the reputation of one of the most artisanal whiskies in the world.
This whisky is the product of The Balvenie combination matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, filling bourbon and sherry, in a container known as a marriage vat.
It is made to a precise recipe refined by the brand's malt master to ensure it captures the rich, smooth and mellow style that distinguishes the distillery.
The Balvenie is the only distillery in Scotland that continues to grow its own barley, uses traditional floor malting and has a boilermaker and a large team of coopers located on site. All supervised by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE.
Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste
This whisky has a rich and complex aroma in nose with slight sweet and vanilla touches.
The color is a pale golden amber.
The taste experienced brings back memories of delicate fruits with soft touches of toffee, oak tannin and soft spices, with a smooth and persistent finish.
Pairing. How to taste it
Considering that we are talking about a single malt whisky with floral notes, we can pair it with everything from nuts to soft textured meats with a deep flavour, such as game birds.
History about The Balvenie Triple Cask 16 Years
The Balvenie Distillery has been owned by William Grant & Sons since William Grant built the distillery in 1982 after acquiring the abandoned Balvenie New House, although it was not until May 1 of the following year that it began production after a period of preparing the factory for operation.
The founder of the company died and his son, John Grant, began the first expansion of the distillery and years later replaced the original malts with the traditional malting floor, a process they still use today.
In 1962, David C. Stewart began working for William Grant & Sons at the age of 17. From then on, he would experiment with the art of whisky until he became a Malt Master in 1974, the fourth Malt Master in the history of the distillery.
David C. Stewart has worked for the brand, experimenting with maturing in two different types of wood, and in 2004 The Balvenie Aged 30 years was launched.
In addition, in 2015, the malt master David C. Stewart starts with "The Balvenie DCS Compendium" with the idea of passing on his knowledge of the art of whisky as he approaches retirement.
