Why buy Discontinued Wine Pingus 2018

Pingus changed the history of Spanish wine forever, being one of the most expensive and valued wines in history. But this does not stop here, Pingus and its exclusive wines want to continue its legacy.

Pingus 2018 is the new creation of Peter Sissek. A red wine of his new vintage made with 100% Tinto Fino grapes, achieving a great, tasty, intense and fruity wine to delight our senses in an incomparable way.

With D.O. Ribera del Duero, for its elaboration the best varietals of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes were selected, cultivated in micro-plots. The grapes are macerated at a controlled temperature and when the must is obtained, the first malolactic fermentation is carried out in wood and, once this is finished, the wine is aged for 21 months in new French oak barrels.

The result is pure liquid fruit, as its creator calls it, with a different style where the presence of fruit and freshness stand out.

Excellence made bottle, with an exclusive texture, valued with 100pts Parker, giving an oenological jewel of limited production, where we only find about 6000 bottles. An exclusive bottle for unique moments, to enjoy one of the best wines in the world.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Pouring a glass of this Pingus 2018, you will appreciate a wonderful cherry red colour.

On the nose, its aromas are intense where red and black fruits such as plum stand out, opening our senses from this moment to an excellent wine.

On the palate, this Pingus 2018, shows all its magic, giving a very tasty flavour with a high concentration of fruit. We find spicy notes and a mineral finish. We appreciate the presence of tannins, but with a great quality. This makes for a wine with spectacular levels of elegance, roundness and persistence.

Pairing. How to taste it

Pingus 2018 is the perfect red wine to accompany big game meat dishes, pork stews, suckling pigs and of course Iberian ham.

We recommend serving it at a temperature of 17°, to enjoy all the flavour, aromas and characteristics of this wine, considered one of the greatest treasures of world oenology.

A little bit of history about Pingus 2018...

Peter Sisseck, Pingus is the nickname given to him by his friends, settled in the Hacienda Monasterio, located in the Ribera del Duero more than 20 years ago. His creative and visionary skills led him to start his own project in the fine red grape sector, where he acquired five hectares of vineyards more than 60 years old in the area of Pesquera and Roa. The purchase of French oak barrels with his name on them changed the history of Spanish wine and continues his legend to this day.

The starting point of Pingus's unbridled ascent began when most of the bottles of its debut 1995 vintage (98 Parker points) that were on their way to the American market sank in the ship that was transporting them.

From that moment on, the wine's exclusivity skyrocketed to spectacular heights, making it the most expensive wine in Spain. Its 2004 vintage received 100 points awarded by Robert Parker, the highest score a wine can have. The release of two other more affordable varieties of wine, such as Psi and Flor de Pingus, make Pingus dominate the excellence of the winemaking sector, considered the little great treasure of Ribera del Duero.
