Aged twice in Bourbon and Sherry barrels separately, the whisky acquires a vanilla aroma from the bourbon barrel and from the Sherry barrel it gets the sweet character, strength and powerful taste. The Oloroso type barrels give the whisky a much darker color.

Aberlour whiskies are made mainly from two ingredients, pure water from Ben Rinnes and barley, grown in the vicinity of the distillery. The barley is soaked in water by the experts and put to germinate in a container in which they are stirred every little so that they grow uniformly. When the sugar levels are at their highest, the maltsters proceed to dry the sprouted barley in the oven.

During the mashing process, spring water heated up previously is added with great care, and it is then added to a mashing vat, where the mixture is stirred gently so that the enzymes that have developed during the malting process transform the starch into sugar. This mixture gives rise to a semi transparent liquid with a sweet taste, the must, and subsequent applications of water ensure that all the sugars.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

Its bright golden color gives way to a combined flavor of caramel, citrus and pear. Its aroma gives off an irresistible mixture of vanilla and spices. The finish combines a smooth smoke with toasted oak and subtle notes of pepper.

Pairing. How to taste it

One of the best ways to taste it is just, at room temperature, or on the contrary, add an ice cube and take it refrigerated. Either way, you will enjoy a bourbon of excellent quality.
