Why buy Whisky The Kurayoshi Pure Malt

The Kurayoshi Pure Malt is a sensational Japanese whisky that has been aged in white oak casks that aged some of the finest bourbons. It has an elegant presentation and is ideal for all occasions.

The Kurayoshi Pure Malt is made from 100% malted barley whisky sourced from distilleries in Scotland. It is then shipped to Japan where it is blended with Japanese whisky aged in white oak casks and cut to proof with the famous volcanic stone filtered water.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

The first thing that strikes the eye is its light amber colour.

When poured into the glass and allowed to aerate, it gives off a soft, refreshing fragrance of malted barley complemented by sweet aromas of sultanas, vanilla and malt.

Finally, on the palate, there is a malty flavour with balanced acidity, hints of bitterness and the sweetness of sultanas, nuts and vanilla.

Pairing. How to taste it

We at Yo pongo el hielo recommend serving it neat, on the rocks or on the rocks to enjoy its nuances even more.

A little bit of history about The Kurayoshi Pure Malt...

Matsui Shuzo is the oldest registered corporation in the Tottori region of Japan. The distillery is located in the foothills of Mount Daisen, which is located in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. One of the most important factors that led them to choose this location to build the distillery was the purity of the water in the area, which is an important ingredient for the distillation of the whisky, as well as the quality of the barley from which it is made. All this, added to the meticulous distillation process, results in a spirit of very special quality and nuances.

When it comes to the ageing process, special casks that are only used in Japan such as Mizunara (Japanese oak) and Sakura (cherry wood) are used in harmony with the classic ex-bourbon and sherry wine casks.

The Matsui team has passed scrupulous blind tastings at prestigious international competitions that recognise quality and excellence in whisky and 2019 was the first time it won several major awards at: World Whiskies Awards, San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the International Whisky Competition, in the United States.
