Why buy Red Wine Pago de Carraovejas Crianza

Pago de Carraovejas' wines are made with the most advanced techniques and with a deep respect for the natural processes from cultivation to bottling. For this reason, they are wines of singular sensitivity.

A Ribera del Duero with the special seal of the winery of the same name: Pago de Carraovejas, one of the most prestigious in the appellation.

The estate is strategically located. It is located at the confluence of rivers and protected by an imposing hill and the Castle of Peñafiel, both witnesses of the cold north winds and the clouds loaded with hail.

In order to obtain its grapes of extraordinary quality, the human intervention and the irrigation systems with which the estate is endowed are decisive. It is worth mentioning the anti-freeze mills that the estate possesses, which mitigate the effects of frost and prevent the internal freezing of the vegetation.

Pago de Carraovejas seems to have the rare ability to convert the strength of the Ribera into fruit intensity, subtlety and freshness. Excellent elaboration, as always, in this crianza, one of the most regular and demanded in the area and in the country.

Pago de Carraovejas is a singular wine, with its own personality, with a claw and a character that it obtains and treasures by accumulating sensations from its highly expressive aromas, its intense colour, its meaty, powerful and exuberant flavour in which the characteristics of each of its Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties are manifested, together with the essential nuances provided by the "terroir" of the slopes of Carraovejas.

Aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels.

History

In 1982 was born the restaurant José María Segovia, and idea of the young and restless start taking place. José María Ruiz begins to transform the concept of the wines served in the Castilian mesons. It eliminated the traditional pitcher to give protagonism to the bottled wine, taking care of the temperature and proper wine service.

Years later, José María Ruiz Benito, connoisseur, even then, of the potential of the Ribera del Duero, had the great illusion of creating its own wine to accompany the piglet, the signature dish of his restaurant in Segovia.

In 1987 José María Ruiz leads a group of wine lovers segovianos conceiving the project of creating a winery in a good area of red wines. The site chosen was the slopes of Carraovejas in Peñafiel, mainly due to three main reasons. The first, being the great center of wines from Ribera del Duero and for being the most promising area of the wines of Spain. The second, its geographical proximity to Segovia. The third, and perhaps most important, because the slopes of Carraovejas were remembered by village elders as the best maduradero of the Shire.

No doubt, the site was Carraovejas. Just had to add a quality component and modernity to optimizes the favorable conditions that all levels can offer for this area. Only then got out the first wine from the Ribera del Duero with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, at a time when the Tinto Fino was the absolute king. So were the same pioneered the use of French oak in the Ribera del Duero and install drip irrigation throughout the property, a system to provide the necessary water, rationally and specifically, improving the quality of red grapes destined a crianza and Reserva.

In 1991 gave birth to the first harvest of Pago de Carraovejas, the result of only 70,000 kilos, giving the first 25 hectares in production. In the following years, vineyard and winery would grow in successive enlargements through continuous but slow and thoughtful growth, always governed by the criterion of not losing any quality, currently reaching 160 Ha.

Currently the winery has more than 14,000 square meters of modern facilities where tradition and modernity come together with the latest technologies and a deep respect for natural processes, always seeking continuous improvement through investment in various research projects, development and innovation.

It's in the Top 40 of economic and cheap products of Red Wine and in the Top 930 of our best seller products.
