Why buy Discontinued Wine 19 Crimes The Banished Dark Red

Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache as faithful squires of Shyra. These are the components of the robust red wine blend 19 Crimes The Banished Dark Red, one of the main components of the wine catalogue of Treasury Wine Estates, a global wine giant based in Melbourne (Australia).

James McNally Wilson is the prisoner honoured in this delicate Australian elixir. The Irishman was exported in the mid-19th century from his native country after completing one of the offences listed in the 19 Crimes Act, in this case being declared a deserter and Fenian, the name given to Irish nationalists fighting against British rule in their country. After a period of imprisonment in Australia he escaped from prison, famously in his letter A Voice in the Grave, in which he details his experience in the penal colony.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

A classic burgundy bottle, the oldest known, is in charge of guarding this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Shyra, aged in 100% American oak barrels. Reinforced by the image of James Mc Mally Wilson, 19 Crimes The Banished Dar Red offers a deep violet colour, which once in the glass releases powerful aromas of vanilla, oak, grape jam and baking spices. Finally, the palate is intense, with flavours of dark fruit, vanilla and oak along with dark chocolate, giving it a long, juicy finish.

How to taste it. Pairing

As for the best way to taste it, at Yo pongo el hielo we recommend drinking it in a wine glass at a temperature of between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius for optimum flavour. As for its pairing, it goes very well with game meats such as deer, pasta and other types of meat such as lamb or veal.

19 crimes that built a country...

The 18th century was preparing to bid farewell when the UK authorities decided to introduce a law of 19 offences whereby those who committed them would be deported to Australia, then a British colony. The reason was none other than overcrowding in the prisons, which could not take any more criminals. Among the offences included in this law were such diverse crimes as impersonating an Egyptian, burning and cutting clothes, or living in a clandestine marriage.

All these crimes are engraved on the corks of the 19 Crimes wine bottles. In no particular order, each bottle from the Australian company contains a cork numbering the crime and explaining what it consists of. Do you dare to collect them?
