Why buy Discontinued Wine Antaño Reserva

With more than a dozen awards in its showcase, this wine from Bodegas Marqués de Carrión brings together everything you would expect from a Red Wine D.O. Rioja.

Is there a better letter of introduction than having more than a dozen awards to your credit? It doesn't matter where we are, one thing is for sure, if a person or a product stands before us with a resume in which his or her virtues are recognized more than 12 times, our barriers are raised and we embrace him or her with full confidence. Then, to present the Antaño Reserva Red Wine saying that 14 times it has rubbed shoulders with the most important wines in the world is to corroborate that we are talking about one of the most awarded Riojas we have in our country.

Produced by Bodegas Marqués de Carrión, located in the town of Labastida, Antaño Reserva, among other details, can proudly say that for five years (2011-2015), has been one of the top three in the International Wine and Spirit Competition. However, leaving aside its "academic achievements", the Rioja of Marqués de Carrión begins its journey with the care of the vine, to ensure the best possible grapes that are collected at harvest time, taking into account the right times that the fruit needs to be at its optimum. Once the harvest has taken place, the grapes are pressed and fermented (with the skins) for 20 days in stainless steel tanks at a constant temperature of 28 degrees. Afterwards, the malolactic fermentation is carried out, where the acidity is reduced, and then the liquid is transferred to American oak barrels, where it will remain for 26 months, racking from one container to another to clarify it. Finally, Antaño Reserva is bottled, ready to delight the palate of diners.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

A classic Bordeaux bottle, with the letters of Antaño and the D.O. Rioja, as well as the quote "A unique taste, with the quality and tradition of yesteryear", is responsible for dueling with anyone who despises the exquisite taste of red wine from Alava. Once poured into the glass, it shows an intense ruby red colour, with brick details, from which vanilla, ripe fruit and leather aromas escape. Finally, once it reaches the palate, it is smooth and tasty, with a pleasant passage.

Pairing. How to taste it

As for the best way to taste it, from I put the ice we recommend to do it at a temperature of 18 degrees, the ideal state to taste its virtues. With regard to the pairing, in the past Reserve house excellently with grilled fish, vegetables and game stews.

Millions of bottles per year

It's not a figure of speech: Marqués de Carrión is prepared to bottle 50 million wines a year. The winery, located in Labastida (Álava), 4 km from Haro and on the banks of the Ebro and the Cantabrian mountains, is one of the most important in the country, with a surface area of 35,000 square metres, of which more than 15,000 are built. 20,000 American and French oak barrels are also another detail that makes one of the letters of Rioja belong to this winery.

It's in the Top 70 of economic and cheap products of Discontinued Wine and in the Top 2200 of our best seller products.
