Its flavour reveals a sweet bitterness that forms a perfect harmony with the vanilla and clove notes.
This beer is perfect with abbey cheese, scallops and crème brûlée.
The history of Leffe has its origins in the abbey of the Premonstratensian canons of Notre-Dame de Leffe.
They started brewing beer in 1240, so that guests and travellers could quench their thirst with a healthy and refreshing drink.
At that time, epidemics made drinking water unsafe, so the solution they devised was to brew beer, as the brewing process killed microbes by boiling at the boiling temperature.
