Why buy Gin Monkey 47
Monkey 47, a premium gin that carries in its unique composition, the responsibility of uniting English traditions, the exoticism of India and the purity of the German Black Forest.
A select gin for discerning palates. Recognised in 2017 as the best gin in the world at the International Wine and Spirits Competition. Not bad, right?
This is a "high-end" gin with a recipe that is unique in the world, extremely aromatic and with a seal of distinction marked by the use of local blueberries typical of the Black Forest.
Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste
Monkey 47 is fresh, with a soft sweet and floral touch that make the perfect combination with the spicy spices and delicate touches of bitter fruits and a deep and balanced complexity that open the way to a spicy and exquisite finish.
How to taste it. Marriage
You can enjoy it by adding just a few ice cubes to your glass, because its harmonious texture and complex aromatic tones mean it doesn't need tonic or another mixer to be fully enjoyed.
A little history about Monkey 47...
The origins of Monkey 47 begin when Major Montgomery Collins, after serving in the Royal Air Force, settled in the Black Forest of Germany in the 1950s to open a small guesthouse called "The Wild Monkey", after Max, a monkey from the Berlin Zoo.
There he created a gin incorporating the most exotic botanicals from the German Black Forest, combining them with Asian ones and infusing them with his English touch.
His gin enjoyed local fame until about four decades ago when Collins passed away.
Fortunately, Alexander Stein had heard of the legend of this gin and began research to try to resurrect it. As a result of his arduous search, he came across the whereabouts of a mysterious wooden box along with a bottle whose label depicted Max the Monkey and read "Max the Monkey Schwarszwald Dry Gin".
Alexander teamed up with local distiller Christoph Keller to bring Commander Collins' exotic gin back to life and it is thanks to them that we have it back with us to enjoy any time of the day.
