Gin from Madrid

Located in Los Molinos, northwest of Madrid, the distillery is located within the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. This location is not unimportant, but it allows the use of the Sierra water in each phase of distillation, which is one of the best in Europe due to its low mineralization.

The environment is a fundamental part of the project: in the heart of nature, far from massive industrial installations, which allows the distillery to rely on the most traditional means of production. It is an approach to production that is closer to craftsmanship than to industrialisation, with the aim of ensuring that the gin obtained after the entire production process is of the highest quality. We are talking about achieving a gin that stands out for its excellence within the abundant group of premium gins. This is why it is produced in small batches of 100 bottles, so that the distillate inside each one can be guaranteed, thanks to an exhaustive quality control.

How a real premium gin is made

Different factors intervene in the elaboration of Gin Monti:

• 15 botanicals, including angelica root, cinnamon, green cardamom...
• Cold maceration of these botanicals.
• Copper still for gentle distillation.
• Water from the Sierra de Guadarrama, one of the best in Europe, to achieve 41% alcohol content.
• And a lot of magic!

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

A classic cut bottle holds a slightly dense, glyceric, clear gin.

In the nose it is fresh, subtle and at the same time intense. It has aromas reminiscent of the countryside above citrus and spices.

To the taste it is dry, citrus in the retro-nasal way and a touch of cinnamon. The alcohol appears later, without becoming hot at any time.

In the mouth it is soft, glyceric, smooth and velvety in the passage, with a bitter final touch that gives it much elegance.

Pairing. How to taste it

To start with, we recommend pouring 4 industrial ice cubes into a ball glass and 5cl of gin and observe the natural smells it gives off. The next step would be to taste it like this, without mixing it to recognize the botanicals used in its elaboration. If you like it as it is, there is no need to add anything else.

Of course, you can add a neutral tonic of 20cl and prepare a perfect gin-tonic, to taste it quietly and decipher all its nuances.

Finally, for the more daring, we propose to mix the distillate with 20cl of plum juice. As you hear it. The botanicals of Gin Monti blend perfectly with the aromas and taste of this fruit.

Huerta Jalón, the distillery behind this London Gin

The family business Huerta Jalón had a clear objective from the outset: to produce a quality product, using traditional and artisan methods and the best raw materials.

Already the maternal great-grandfather distilled eau-de-vie in copper tar, using the raw material from the fruit trees on a farm of his property located in Logroño. Nowadays, the raw material has changed for the nature of the Guadarrama mountain range where the distillery is located, in the village of Los Molinos, Madrid: the botanicals and the water of the area give it that authentic taste.
