The Sandels beer is named after the legendary war hero, Colonel Johan August Sandels, who was known for its excellent taste for food and drink. The Colonel was also known for being a brave and energetic war hero.

Sandels is a beer brewed by Olvi since 1971. In the back label of the beer can read daring tales of how brave and energetic colonel led his troops to victory against the numerical superiority of the enemy. A Scandinavian version of 300, in a way. It is one of the oldest brands of Finnish beer.

History

Count Johan August Sandels (August 31, 1764 until January 22, 1831) was a Swedish soldier and politician, was appointed governor of Norway (Riksståthållare in Swedish, Rigsstatholder in Dano-Norwegian) in 1818 and quarterback in 1824. It was also he worked as an actor in Stockholm in 1815.

Respected and war hero Colonel Johan August Sandels was an expert strategist and negotiator habil. Once, when negotiations for an armistice was reaching a dead end, Sandels suggested a lunch break. The main course was salted meat that was watered with plenty of beer, and soon the enemy sent his messenger to sound the negotiations were coming to fruition.
