Why buy Beer Discontinued A. Le Coq Porter

A. Le Coq Porter is a dark beer made from carefully selected especially dark malts. These malts give the beer a strong but smooth taste. The aroma is malty Porter, toasted, fruity and has a hint of coffee.

Justus Reinhold Schramm founded the first brewery in Tartu, Estonia in 1826. From the beginning his brewery was recognized for its high quality and was awarded with many prizes at beer fairs.

The company caught the attention of A. Le Coq & Co who bought the local brewery in 1913, and then the name of the company was changed to A. Le Coq. Albert Le Coq was originally a Belgian businessman, who had founded a beer company in London in 1808.

The company purchased bottled beer from local breweries, and A. Le Coq became famous for his strong Imperial Porter, which was exported to Russia. Due to market competition, A. Le Coq & Co decided to buy a brewery in Russia in order to better compete in the Russian beer market.

A. Le Coq is currently a Olvi Group company  and is the largest seller of beverages in Estonia.

A. Le Coq Porter is a dark beer with a perfectly balanced flavor. The brewing is a tradition handed down from generation to generation, and A. Le Coq Porter can be regarded as the successor to the world-famous Imperial Extra Double Stout that was the official beer of the czars of Imperial Russia.

The mature character and perfect taste, are derived from a pure spring water and extra dark caramel malt.

Nose: roasted grain, dark chocolate and molasses, accented by spicy hops.

Taste: roasted, burnt fruit, chocolate and earthy hop resins.

Final: is rich and warm, with a predominance of black fruits, bitter roasted grain, coffee espresso and a firm bitterness.
