History

The Inlima S.L. distillery was created in 1995 in Mallorca. In its beginnings it was run by the Morey family, who launched themselves into the spirits market, producing handmade liqueurs, among which the liqueurs produced with Mallorcan herbs stood out.

As time went by, the distillery grew and added more products to its catalogue, which led them to market them both nationally and internationally. In 2009, the distillery was acquired by the Campeny Group and, from that moment on, the growth was even greater thanks to the new economic impulse and the special attention that was directed to achieve an excellent quality and updating of all the products.

Currently, the Inlima S.L. distillery supplies the national market and exports part of its production to countries in the European Community. Absinthe Calavera is one of its best known and most sought after products due to its powerful flavour with aniseed aromas, as well as being ideal for sharing and enjoying with friends.

Interesting Facts

  • Many years ago, absinthe was used as a fever-reducing potion and in many places was even used as an aphrodisiac. It was banned for a century and today it cannot be sold in several countries.

  • Some stories from the time say that absinthe may have been the cause of Van Gogh cutting off his ear, and that it was also used as a source of inspiration for some of the greatest writers and painters in history, who created wonderful novels and works of art as dazzling as those of Picasso.

  • Nowadays, drinking absinthe is a ritual for many absinthe lovers: they place a spoon with holes in it over the glass, put a lump of sugar on top, pour water to taste over it and wait for it to melt and fall into the absinthe. Other more daring drinkers set fire to the lump of sugar to toast it beforehand, but specialists agree that this method changes the taste of the drink.

  • At the time when absinthe was at its peak, bars and terraces always had a can of cold water with a tap ready so that consumers could add water to their drink as often as they thought necessary.
