Why buy Discontinued Wine Pissarres
This wine is made with grapes from old vines of Grenache and Carignan with an average age of 50 years, all with very low and planted terraces slate floor, offering its special mineral taste productions.
Priorat is a small region in Catalonia, northeastern Spain, whose wines have intense body and a deep red color. It has gained significant prominence in recent decades.
Red wine from Priorat (the region also produces small amounts of white and pink wine) is exceptional in three key aspects. First, it is one of the few tipes of world class wines based on Grenache grape. Second, it is one of the two types of wine (the other is Rioja) in getting QDO classification (Denomination of Origin), this category is reserved for wines that have achieved high levels of quality for an extended period time. And third, they have gone from being almost unknown on the international market, to be one of the most expensive wines in the world.
The classic Priorat wine is made from the blend of Grenache and Carignan grapes. The Carignan grape brings color and tannins, while the Grenache contributes to alcohol content, and a series of light fruit flavors (especially strawberry, raspberry and cherry).
Pissarres is produced by the Costers del Priorat Winery. This winery has one of the best vineyards in the region, located in Bellmunt, the heart of Priorat. Costers del Priorat is located in a mountain setting, where vines are grown on small terraced where production is limited and the work is mostly manual.
It is in this unique environment where Costers del Priorat Winery was established. There are old vines of Grenache and Carignan varieties aged between 40 and 100 years. This translates into a wine treasure that leads to the production of wines that are easily recognized around the world.
