Galliano is a sweet herbal liqueur created in 1896 by the Italian distiller Arturo Vaccari of Livorno, Tuscany. This liqueur has adopted its name in honor of Giuseppe Galliano, an Italian hero of the First Italo-Ethiopian War of the late 19th century.
Galliano is a vibrant golden liquor, made with Italian vanilla, easily recognizable by its high fluted bottle, inspired by the Roman columns.
Galliano was invented in 1896 by Arturo Vaccari, a distiller of Livorno, Tuscany, and season with more than thirty different herbs and spices, including the Mediterranean anise, juniper, lavender, peppermint and vanilla.
Galliano L'Authentic is prepared by Maraschi and Quirici in Chieri, in a small town in the Italian Alps. This location is important, not only because is where Vaccari first made his liquor, but because this is where they grow many of the herbs and spices used.
It is a vibrant aromatic liqueur with a sweet, smooth and persistent cross herbal palate, making it an excellent aperitif.
