Why buy Gin Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla

"Seville has a special colour, Seville still has its duende, it still smells like orange blossom...". So goes one of the most famous lyrics of the Andalusian capital, written by Los Del Río more than 25 years ago and to which a new phrase could now be added: y me sabe a Tanqueray (and it tastes like Tanqueray).

The gin brand has launched Flor de Sevilla, a tribute to the city that contains the colour and smell of its streets. And how is this possible? Thanks to new technologies, mainly Big Data. The heads of the British distillery have analysed the streets of Seville, its architecture and location, identifying the chromatic range that predominates in it and capturing it in a natural orange colour. Moreover, as the song says, the capital of Andalusia smells of orange blossom, and this flower is one of the botanicals along with Seville bitter orange that stand out in the blend, accompanied by the four characteristic botanicals of Tanqueray's London Dry Gin.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

The classic Tanqueray bottle, wider as it rises from its base to its neck, is responsible for dueling with anyone who does not want to pay homage to the quintessential Seville gin. Made of transparent glass, it reveals the pale, clean, natural, orangey colours we mentioned earlier. Once poured into a glass, it reveals complex and very fruity aromas, which stand out on the palate, dominated by the flavour of orange and orange blossom, as it could not be otherwise.

Pairing. How to taste it

As for the best way to enjoy Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla, at Yo pongo el hielo we recommend drinking it in a wide glass, accompanied by a neutral tonic, as the fruity flavour of the gin does not need to be emphasised any further. Four or five pieces of ice and a previously squeezed orange wedge, and enjoy it in the streets of Seville.

A little bit of history about Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla...

The story of Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla begins in 1860, when Charles Tanqueray, creator and promoter of the brand in London's Bloomsbury district since 1830, travels around the world looking for new flavours to include in his drink. On one of these trips he came across Seville, and as well as falling in love with its streets and people, he discovered the aroma of the Seville bitter orange and its orange blossom.

More than a century later, the current managers of the distillery have fulfilled the wishes of its creator, blending these two products with the brand's characteristic botanicals to give shape to a gin that seeks, like Charles Tanqueray, to conquer palates all over the world.
