Why buy Red Wine Protos Roble

The grapes used in the winemaking process are 100% red, obtained from 25-year-old vineyards from different plots with the intention of seeking the expression of the terroirs.

After the wine is obtained, it is aged in French and American oak barrels for six months, followed by a further six months in the bottle.

Tasting notes. Sight, smell and taste

The colour of this wine is an intense cherry red with a purple rim.

On the nose the notes and aromas of red and black fruit stand out, with other spicy and toasted notes.

The taste of protos roble is fruity and fresh, with a sweet and balanced passage and soft and very pleasant tannins.

Food pairing. How to taste it

The ideal pairing for this wine is very varied, from rice, pasta, chicken, poultry, grilled meats, lamb and pork, to mushrooms, sausages and semi-cured cheeses.

History of the product

In 1927, eleven winegrowers set up a cooperative with the sole purpose of producing wine. During the 1930s it began to be internationally recognised thanks to the prizes it was winning.

After several decades of history, in the 1980s it changed its original name from Bodegas Ribera del Duero to Bodegas Protos.

In the most recent period of the winery's history, it became part of the Rueda Designation of Origin in 2006, and was chosen as the first Spanish winery with the "mark of excellence" certificate by Wine & Spirits magazine in 2013.
