History


The history of Larios gin dates back to 1866 when Charles Lamothe, a French entrepreneur, and his partner Pedro Jimenez founded a distillery in Malaga.


The Jimenez y Lamothe distillery is acquired by the third Marquis of Larios in 1916, who founds the Larios House giving rise to Larios y Cia, which in 1933 would be Larios S.A.


It would be in the middle of the century when Larios gin would start to stand out in the spirits sector due to its outstanding and innovative design. This design has been evolving throughout history resulting in a more stylish, modern and authentic bottle.


Over time it became one of the star products of the so-called "long drink", until in 1988 it became the most sold gin in Spain, with 55.4% of the market.


In 2009, the Larios brand incorporated Larios 12 gin, a premium quality gin, into its range. Later, in 2015, Larios Rosé, a gin with an intense strawberry aroma, would also be launched on the market.


The last great product that Larios has launched on the market, at the moment, is Larios Citrus, a creation that saw the light in 2018 and that is characterized by being soft, refreshing and ideal for the moment of the appetizer and that multiplies the possibilities within the territory of the gin and tonic.


Today, Larios is integrated into the BeamSuntory group following the acquisition of the Beam group by the Japanese company Suntory. Since then, they have adapted their campaigns to the digital community and social networks, reaching their consumers more closely and directly.

A premium gin born from an exotic combination of 12 botanical species extracted from nature during a process of 5 distillations. It has the typical aromas of gin with the most refreshing citrus and the distinctive touch of orange blossom.

Produced with the technique of two double distillations obtaining a balance between its botanical and citrus components to obtain a gin with an alcoholic volume of 42% with a rounded body and great expression of juniper.



Logo and campaigns


The current logo of the Larios gin is a representation of the brand name, LARIOS, with the letter "L" as the initial letter of the word underlining the next two and then reading "EST. 1866", which refers to the year the company was founded.


As for the most remembered campaigns of Larios gin, we highlight:


  • "Espíritu Mediterráneo", a spot that goes beyond a specific place or space, and evokes an attitude, a special way of living, feeling and enjoying in the company of Larios gin.

  • "Otro lugar", is a video clip performed by Paula Cendejas and composed by the music producer Alizzz that tells a fight against the costume as a symbol of the pressures of everyday urban life.

  • "Another one of those dreams of yours", a project that was born with the clear objective of positioning Larios as a leading brand in value increasing its relevance among consumers.


Interesting facts


During the 90's, Larios launched the Larios Calendar, presented each year by 12 protagonists of fashion, television or cinema, accompanied by a big presentation party to help spread the name of the brand.
